Progress

Today was the day. The day to put all fears to rest. The day for Baby Twerp to conquer his arch nemesis -- water. The day for glory to conquer fear and for a child hero to born. Oh yes, I could feel it coming in the air tonight...hold on...hold on.We went to my cousins to go swimming and Middle Twerp immediately jumped in.
Eldest Twerp was all smiles.
And here was Baby Twerp. Trapped in his own balcony prison -- as far from the water as possible.
We were all on a mission to get Baby Twerp in the water. We had synchronized our swatches and were ready to meet back at 14:00 hours to determine mission accomplished.
Eldest Twerp started her tactics first. Look Baby Twerp. See how fun this is...
And look at this...she is such a show off. And what about the cannon ball....this splashed 3 milli-droplets of water of his left foot and started a 18.73 minute long tirade. Middle Twerp was next. His tactic was humiliation. Chicken Baby Twerp...He mocked. Bawk..Bawk...Bawk.Then he got a wedgie from all that jumping around. I think it served him right. But what did Baby Twerp want? Momma to jump in? Me really? I hate to get my hair wet....are you sure? Okay, but I have to hold my nose...See Baby Twerp, look at the fun I am having. FUN FUN FUN...He came over immediately to kiss me and praise me and then....then...then... What to my wondrous eyes did appear? But five little toes and a nine tiny eye-tears.
Do you see this peeps? This is monumental!Oh and look, we are having FUN!And a little hand action going on too. And then as soon as it came on, it was gone. That was it for the day. So we went a minimum of eight feet from the pool and played in our comfort zone once again. But, progress was made....and we did not melt.

That is too cute. Did the other twerps go through similar water fears? I am still an awful swimmer myself. I can doggy-paddle, though! ;)

Baby steps will turn into giant steps slowly. Good for Baby Twerp. I know you've probably tried this, but have you ever told him it's a giant bathtub?

Good job Baby Twerp!

Mine are 17 months and almost 3, and they LOVE the pool, which makes me nervous sometimes!

P.S. You have BEAUTIFUL hair missy!

working mom -- you are my new bff...thanks for the hair comment...

treasia -- I did tell him that...i even told him he could make big bubbles like he and Middle Twerp do in the bathtub..boys will be boys...He has never fallen in or gone under or had a bad experience...he just does notliek it....Yesterday he went down the slide at the park for the first time...in the past he has not even climbed the jungle gyms...I am telling you, he is a safety conscience boy.
