Breakfast with Baby Twerp

Baby Twerp is like an old man in a cute little 30 pound body.
Good thing for me, I love old men in cute little 30 pound bodies. But this morning during our regular Thursday morning Starbuck's breakfast ritual, we decided to add a little math into the equation. Oh sure, most kids this age are using teddy bear counters and cuisenaire rods and pattern blocks. But I think we have established that we are not like most kids. We are more mature and serious, and well...older. And old men prefer coffee.
So we used coffee beans.
And we are now counting by 2's and doing single digit addition and subtraction.
And all that was with decaf. Wait till we use espresso.

Real world math! That's where it's at! He'll never ask the question, "Why do we have to learn this?" He'll already know the answer: STARBUCKS!

What jacket did you decide on?

Man, I love starbucks. Unfortunately I have to "suffer" with using the beans at home. The closest starbucks is 30 minutes away.

However, I do not love starbucks coffee when my one year old spills it on my 2nd grader's home school lesson plan book. It has been a fun morning so far!

What a great way to teach math to Baby Twerp. Making it fun for everyone all at the same time.
