The Ball

Smokey Eyes -- oh how I worked on my smokey eyes. And I listened to Edie and Lo and did what they told me. Cause it was The Ball. And I was suppose to be beautiful and stunning and breath taking...
But I settled for non-goth looking after taking off my eye make up THREE times...Cause I felt like I looked ridiculous!!!And yes...I know I have a hotel pen in my hair, but when you forget your clippy...and you are in emergency mode...you can become like the McGuiver of hair, and use a pen to trake or also to do the emergency updo. I am all equipped with skillz like that and all.Anyhoo, on the third try at my eyes I looked over at IJ and asked, "IJ...What do you think about these smokey eyes? Is this better?"

Without even looking up he said, "Take of my shirt before you get that black stuff on it. I will meet you downstairs. You look beautiful."

"Well, I am keepin the shirt on. And I might even wear it down to the ball if you don't watch it!" So don't go all freakin out. I actually fixed my hair. I wore it down but only cause Kelli and Marchelle told me to. But then I had to call IJ and make him come back up cause I could not zip up my dress.

Don't even make a comment about it. I did not gain any weight between last week and now. And even if I did, I do not want to talk about it. And let me just set you straight that this McGuiver girl could not fix that issue with a pen.
So down we went together to blend among 600 other guys with the same uniform on.And it was stunning....

The food was fab...and IJ - who is all humble and shy - would never tell you these things...but I am all about the dish. He was all at the head table cause EVERYBODY loves IJ and he is all big time. And I was all sitting next to a two star general...in which I have NO CLUE what that meant. So I asked him if he could trade those silver glitter stars in for pink glitter hearts...cause that would so totally be cool and all. That is when IJ took my wine glass away.
But I ate my beet salad and my steak and my garlic mashed potatoes and was awaiting my next course, when these arrived...
What in the WORLD would I need ear plugs for? At this nice classy event...
But soon..the claps and courtesy laughs turned into hoops and hollers and boo yahs and beating on the chest. I am of the philosophy IF YOU CAN"T BEAT EM JOIN EM. So, when I joined in, IJ took my flask that was hidden in my purse away. Whatever. Fuddy Dud.
So I sat down and awaited this glorious site....The man of my dreams riding in on a white horse.
Hello my lover. Come to momma.

Then we danced the night away and I got my flask back. I kid. I kid. Sorta.

CG,
You did a killer smoky eye and if this whole grant thing doesn't stimulate ya enough, I say we take our skills to the MAC counter. That'd be like my dream job. Looks like you had fun too....I am so jealous....'cause I have a dancer inside of me that seldom gets to rear its ugly head. I hope there were a few token 80's tunes, 'cause a dance is not a dance without a little "Can't Touch This". IJ looks like a million bucks too, as usual and men in uniform----don't take it for granted! Happy day at the salon and congratulations on your new dream job!!!!!

I really miss those formal balls! You looked beautiful and IJ looked quite dashing in his uniform. I hope you had a great time. Was it a sort of Dining Out or was it an Air Force birthday ball? What was the occasion? Change of command?
