one. little. word.

one. little. word

A single word can be a powerful thing. It can be the ripple in the pond that changes everything. It can be sharp and biting or rich and soft. It can encourage. It can tear down. It can inspire or deflate. Never underestimate the power of words. Even. one. little. word.

Your life can be guided by words. The power of life and death lie in the tongue. I truly believe that. {Someone famous said that -- Anyone? Anyone?}

Heidi, at Mt Hope Chronicles, chooses one little words to guide her year. ONE. LITTLE. WORD. Sometimes it is nice to stay focused and lasered in one one guiding theme as opposed to resolutions. I agree. Cause I don't do resolutions. They wear me out. And let's face it, if there is something I DON'T wanna do, I better not make it resolution...cause then I will do it. It is that darn Jr High boy within (i think i need to name him. the therapist says it might help.)

Anyhoo....some "one little words" from 2008 from my friends were:

potential
hope
enjoy
courage
generous
release
forgive
celebrate
fresh
breathe
jump
tranquility
intentional
fresh
change
Last year mine was : Become

And I truly wanted to become what I wanted to be, without any external influences and pressures. It is ironic how clueless I was on January 1, 2008 when I chose that word. How naive I was of all the changes that would occur and how blinded I was by the changes that were about the wreck into my life.

But I could always go back to my word: Become - and focus.

Now it is time once again to simplify and choose my word. We are all aware of how hard it is for me to make a decision, so I don't have mine quite yet. But I will have it soon. Real soon. Probably. More than likely.

But I wanna know ~

If you had to chose one. little. word to guide your 2009, what would it be?

I love you all,
CG

I like this a lot. I'm drawn to celebrate and intentional, but I think I'll ponder this for a bit before I pick....

Oh CG, your post just made me cry. But they were tears of joy and inspiration. Can I tell you how much I have come to love your blog? My word for this year would be....RISK.... This will be my year to hold nothing back, and to risk what I must to live my dreams.

My word for 2009 is "flow". Because I need to change some things within myself. Like the need to control and feel in control. So I am going to go with the flow. And not freak out when something isn't scheduled. Because sometimes, flying by the seat of your pants can also be fun. :) It's going to be a great challenge for me to just "flow", but I'm going to try it and see what it does for my stress level.

my one word for this year is positive. the reason I picked that one is because I tend to be always on the negative side of life and I really need to focus on the positive side of life, things, situations, etc....I just keep hearing that from my significant other.

My word is....content. I have to become "content" with the way things are. It's a very hard thing to do. But that is what needs to be done.

My one. little. word?

Plunge.

2009 is a big scary year for me. Graduating from college, moving away from my comfort zone and home for the past four years, and beginning my first year in a career as a Special Educator. Scary, because (with the exception of graduation) I have no idea when/how that is all going to fall into place. Whatever does come at me, though, I want to do it all with meaning, intention, and love. One of the definitions of plunge is "enthusiastic attempt". That's what I want. Plunge.
