Put on Sunrise, Sunset and Get A Box of Tissue

Every mother has to do it. Every mom endures it. Every momma faces it. But, these are my babies. MY BABIES!
And they will be attending Big Boy school next year. They will both be going to our Public Elementary. Middle Twerp will be in Kindergarten and Baby Twerp will be in Pre K. My Babies.
Since this is the first time for BOTH of them to attend this school, we went to the little Pre K/Kindergarten Round-Up yesterday for them to "experience" school. Sniff. Sniff. And prepare the mothers.
Do you see this? Mutt and Jeff I tell you. Mutt and Jeff. I am getting verklempt.
The first thing we had to do was get our new school shirts. We are now SHARKS. And BT has no problem getting into character.Just look at him. Look at him. Oh Lordy be. It seems like only yesterday.....
And this little munchkin. Sniff. Sniff. He is my BABY! He is THREE. Where has the time gone? The highlight of the meeting was the milk and cookies. They had STRAWBERRY MILK!
Oh. my. goodness. Just look at them. They look 15 years old. HE CAN OPEN HIS OWN MILK CARTON! When did this happen? I wanna breastfeed. I wanna give him a bottle. I want a paci. I am tellin you...HE LOOKS 15!
A straw? They can open their own straws??? No they can't! They need me.
Well, at least he wipes his mouth. Someone pass the tissues.
Strike up the band, "Sunrise, Sunset. Sunrise, Sunset. Swiftly flow the days. Seedlings turn overnight to sunflowers. Blossoming even as we gaze."
Oh...the bus. THE BUS. Look how big he looks.
with his hands in his pockets.
Is this the little boy I carried?
Is this the little boy at play?
I don't remember growing older.
When did they????
When did he get to be a beauty?
When did he grow to be so tall?
Wasn't it yesterday, when they were small?
Sunrise, Sunset. I can't handle it.

Sniff. Sniff.

I'm tellin ya, you better cherish them every minute! I can remember taking my oldest to kindergarten Meet the Teacher night just like it was yesterday... and he just finished his finals of his jr. year in college!

But he also scared me to death with a lizard in the kitchen last night! Some things never change!

Awww..I had tears reading this! Your boys are dolls!

I so remember and long for the "little boy" days with Jake. He's graduating from high school this month and I'm not sure I'm going to get through it. It's like it happened over night!!
