Halloween Was Canceled

This year's Halloween was much anticipated.
And there is always some decision making -- Hill Billy Monster? (AKA His Mother)
Oh Lord --
Heaven's to Betsy!
But alas, we fell back on the safe predictable super heroes. And we attended a little dinner party before the actual trick or treat experience. And I had to pull an executive decision. It was a tough one, but I really was left with no other choice -- cause Middle Twerp must have drank the adult punch due to his nine-kinds-of-crazy behavior. And I mean NINE KINDS OF CRAZY.
So after many warnings, I had to follow through. Trick or Treat was canceled for Middle Twerp.
We came home and passed out candy while Baby and Eldest Twerp went door-to-door. Was it sad? YES Did it break my heart? ABSOLUTELY! Would I do it again? I would have to.
But for every candy bar he gave away, he ate one.

And I had two. Please don't judge me.

You are a good mother...you had to follow through. Looks like he still got candy anyway. Well, what mom didn't eat :)

Poor MT, but he has to learn there are consequences to actions. You are a good parent.

I once grounded one from going sled riding on the first big snow of the winter...it was SO hard...I felt REALLY bad when it turned out to be the only sled-worthy snow that year! Yikes! Parenting is tough.

I grounded my daughter from her senior Homecoming. I've NEVER heard the end of that and she's almost 30.

You are a good mother, and I am so happy to see that you do follow through! It is hard! It is tough, and will break your heart every time, but children need to learn, and this is the only way to do it. You can bet, that 20 years from now, he is going to appreciate this. But in the mean time, he will never let you forget the Halloween you would not let him trick or treat! LOL

You know what, your a good Mom, he had to learn and I bet he won't do it again.I would have done the same thing. As my Mother told me, your their Mother, not their friend.
The Barbie costume is a great idea!

I'm sure it was a sad thing for him and an even sadder thing for you. Who wants to see their child unhappy? But as tough as it was on both of you, the punishment was for his greater good. I believe you did it out of love and concern for the person he has yet to become. Bless you for being a responsible parent.

A mom's gotta do what a mom's gotta do!

I think you sent him the right message for Halloween... +++ "tricks" = 0 "treats" (other than the ones in the bowl you're passing out to others)
