No Boys!

When I became pregnant with the second child, my daughter was so excited. We were the annoying people that bought every book on pregnancy. We had a calendar that told us what the "baby" was doing everyday. I would wake her up and say, "The baby is growing fingernails today!" We would giggle and smile and be ever so excited. We were annoying! Okay maybe it was more me than her, but I was able to drag her into it...she was willing though! I swear!
Once the baby was born she was a second mother. She was right there by me helping in every way. "No, no mom. You should not use powder remember? It he can breath it into his lungs. You should us buttock cream." Then she would site the author and page number of the book in which she found the information. I would come home from the store with Pampers and she would look up at me and say, "Pampers? Really? Are you not fully aware that Huggies Ultra are obviously a better choice for boys due to their front wetness lock?" Then she would sigh and roll her eyes in disgust and I would go back to Alberton's to get Huggies. She was such a mother hen with the first boy...until the next pregnancy was revealed.

She just knew it was a girl. She picked out girl names, looked in catalogs at pink toile bedding, and longed for the day they would share a room. Then the ultrasound day came. I arrived home to sit her down for the tragic news...it was a boy, again.

She cried, ripped at her clothes, and rubbed ashes on her face....then went into the playroom to make this fortress and sign.

Are you trying to tell us that you are ready to have a girl?
