This Ones For The Girls

This one is for Robin and Robin. I have tried to transform my crack house into a quaint cottage feel. I am posting the before and after pics of the loving room and dining room. Here was the living room/dining room pic before. Notice the ceiling fan. I liked the ceiling fan. I am so positive. Here is the after. Really the only thing I did was paint. Remember? TripleMocha Latte? I have been caught licking the walls on several occasions. My Starbuck's budget has been cut! What is a girl to do?
I changed the light above the dining room table and got matching shades for the ones on the ceiling fan. I know...I know...quite anal, but details, details! This is my Target chair. But when people come over I refer to it an my Ethan Allan chair....no lies, it is just my affectionate nickname. What am I saying? Like we even know anybody to have over. Please notice the hideous striping in the kitchen....that is also taken care of...

Also notice Indiana Jones' contribution to the room....Can anyone guess what it is? Now the only thing I need help with is my window treatments on my front windows. What do you think? Something needs to be done because between this window and the front door, you can see right into my house....everything. You can see my pick my cuticles while sitting on the couch drinking Dr Pepper and watching The View. And you can see me licking the walls at 6 am because I am on a limited Starbucks budget. And you can see Middle Twerp running naked to the back deck to pee and you can see me...well, I think we should stop while you still love me...
So, shot straight with me peeps....What do you like? dislike? What is super cool and should stay? What is GAG ME WITH A SPOON? Help a sista out.

You have a beautiful home. I love your taste in decorating. The only idea I could offer is maybe a coffee table or something similar for the space between the couch and TV. You have done a great job.

LOVE IT. LOVE IT. LOVE IT. Love the topiaries around the fireplace. (Nice flat screen IJ!) Love the hardwood floors.
I agree with Scrappy girl....I'd go with a coffee table or a couple cubes to pull it all together. How about some Roman Shades on the front windows and leave the half-circle one bare. As for the front door....that's a tough one... is there not an alternate route MT can take when he streaks thru to pee?

We know, we know, you are just worried about concealing your hot little cabana boy. Honestly, we both agree that the windows should not be covered, however if you choose to do so, wooden blinds that match your floor would be Robin 1's preference. Robin 2 also has a naked little twerp that roams the homestead, so I can relate to wanting the privacy. Your house is absolutely beautful and the earthy colors surely matches your personality.

Nice T.V. IJ!!!!

Now that you are getting over your state of denial, your project is turning out nicely.

Thank you for the daily dose, sista!

Post your pictures here.. http://ths.gardenweb.com/forums/decor/
There are some really helpful people there. I know those windows are so hard to work with. My windows were bare for a year while I decided. Luckily we live on a farm off the beaten path. Your decorating style is beautiful. I love the clock hanging on the wall. I am most envious of the beautiful light you have coming through that window!

I really like the paint color you choose, it really made the fire place pop, I had to scroll back to see if you had made changes to that. I see your dilema on the windows. I, personally, don't like real heavy draperies I like all the sunlight coming in, but you want to be able to shut the neighbors out and prevent any peek-a-boo so maybe something sheer with a decorative rod. Any help or am i just rambling?

I like using sheer drapes, to give privacy yet let in the light.

Hey CG! Such an old post, but I am reading the back versions cause you haven't posted anything new since last night. Yes, I'm addicted to CG. My old blog friends are jealous. Anyway, did you ever solve your curtain problem here? I was thinking running a rod all the way across the top and let curtains go floor to ceiling. I'd probably choose something sheer cause I like that light pouring in. I love the color of your walls. Really warmed it up and looks so much brighter and cozy. You might have had to put all the twerps and yourself on prozac if you'd left that horrible green, so the new color will save you tons of money! So if you have curtains now, I'd love to see an update photo! I have curtain issues and never know what to do and it always turns out not quite right. IE: Don't follow my advice, but I was just thinking out loud about them.
