Ooops I Did It Again...

UPDATE -- I was completely and totally kidding about doing the carving....I did not do that and it was a weak attempt at humor and sarcasm. I am just tellin it like it is. I have no skills.

So I am a very sensitive person. This is another one of my many flaws. I have been like this my whole life. I feel every emotion to its fullest potential. If I am happy...I AM HAPPY, ELATED, EXUBERANT. But if I am sad, then the entire world is comin to an end and we are all destined for an eternity of flames lapping at our ankles. I have issues with exaggeration too, but I can only deal with one flaw at a time...cause it hurts my feelings to deal with more.

I also get my feelings hurt at the drop of a hat and when put in a situation where I feel stupid [which occurs often], I can cry at the drop of a hat. I am tellin ya there were hats dropping all over the place this afternoon.

We went to the Farmer's Market this morning cause I love Farmer's Markets and I love the people at Farmer's Markets and I love the discussions at Farmer's Markets and I love Farmers and I love markets ... so what a perfect combo.

I drove into the Farmer's Market today and had to back into a parking spot cause it was that crowded. Now I am not really afraid of anything when it comes to driving. I have driven all over with three Twerps..city, country, gravel, dirt, nine-lanes, parallel parking, backing up, tractors, SUVs, compact cars...you name it, I have done in....so what is a little backing up in a parking lot at the Farmer's Market....

Well, apparently there was a LARGE pile of these sitting behind my SUV and I could not see them but everyone was waving and hollering and flagging me, but I was looking behind me because who looks to the side when they are backing up...
And when I did finally stop and look around I saw all these faces of disdain looking back at me...it was like one big face of judgement and I rolled down my window and they were not so nice...saying things like, ''Did you not see all those watermelons'' and ''Well look at the mess'' and ''I hope your happy'' everyone was staring and my face started to get hot and my throat started to burn and I felt really stupid.
So I went to find the booth owner and I apologized and offered to pay for the damage. Well, Doug started off pretty hot under the collar, but before it was over...he would not take any money from me and his son was on his way and would probably drop more loading them in the truck and he laughed and I offered to help load them and he would not hear of it...and we hugged and shared a moment. He would not accept anything but an apology and I felt horrible and everyone was still staring and giving me the stink eye...

So I whipped out my pocket knife and turned the smashed watermelon into this.... But they still all gave me the stink eye as I drove off cause they were all jealous of my carvin skills and Eldest Twerp said, ''I am proud of you for taking responsibility for your actions mom...but you should try to be a little more careful...I mean they were watermelons.'' Sheesh.

Oh this is so something that would happen to me. I know I shouldn't laugh at someone elses expense but I am so relieved it is not me.

What you should done is spit a watermelon seed in those "stink eyes" Let those cast the first stone...What an awesome job you did on that smashed watermelon! But be honest it wasn't a pocket knife was it? It was a leatherman with a watermeilon cutting tool! I thought so!

I would have cried instantly after doing this. You are a stronger woman than I am. Good for you for ignoring the stink eyes and offering your assistance. And kudo's to the man selling the watermelon for not asking for your help and being understanding.

How funny is that. I mean hitting the watermelons while everyone is trying to get your attn to tell you to stop.
Honestly, I would have been mortified and just left and never ever gone back. But you live in a small town so you can't really get away with it.
But I clearly think you made up for it with the carve!!!!

awwww...surely the southern hospitality would take over for those mean ol' stink eye-rs. Everyone makes mistakes...what were those watery melons doin' in the way of your SUV anyway... better get yerself a back-up mirror, girlie!

Ok - are you seriously that perfect that you whipped out that awesome carved up melon??!! I have had it with you -- beautiful, a great writter (you are entertaining the world with your blog), and a melon carver (I'm sure there are many more "greats" about you that I don't know of). I think you're truly one in a million!

If I could carve up a melon like that -- i wouldn't have felt bad/embarrased at all!!!!

Like you, I am super-sensitive and cry at the drop of a hat!

I think you should open your own stand at the market and offer up those carved beauties!
