Coach Country Girl

Meet Coach Country Girl. AKA I called it a free throw when I should have said foul ball. Details Schmetails. And I had to fill in for Indiana Jones tonight cause he was out of town. P.S. IJ will never be allowed to go out of town ever again.. Ev-er. Amen. But apparently in TBall the coach is also the umpire [or is it referee?]. So that meant I had to call the outs and safes and foul balls [Not FREE THROWS - that was a little embarrassing] and other sports thingies. Anyhoo, BIG MISTAKE!Especially since we were playing "matching polo shirt coaches who warmed up before they pitched and had choreographed cheers and the attitude of if-they-are in-the base-line-run-them-over" team. I am a lover, not a fighter. It was seriously just like an ABC after school special. With the super good rich team vs the poor team with no skillz but a coach with cute lip gloss and a brilliant personality. And I got all competitive for a little bit ...until I helped one of the kids on their team when he ran over a kid in the base line and got the wind knocked out of him.
And the other coach shook my hand....and said, Hey thanks, COACH.
Coach? COACH! I have never been called coach in my entire life. And it sounded perfect and wonderful and it made me give the other team a big group hug and spirit fingers.Do you think that was inappropriate?Cause my kids hid their faces in shame. But I think I might become highly recruited. For my ability to bring us all together...under one unified front. I mean why even keep score? Right?

The thing that always comes across in all of your posts is how much you not just love but truly like kids - and not just your own.

It is obvious you get a kick out of being around kids and have a big, pink, puffy heart for them.

I big, pink, puffy heart that about you! 'Cause I dig kiddos, too! They're the best!

I've so enjoyed reading and laughing while reading your blog. You have a great sense of humor and I just know we'd so be friends in 'real life'. I once made friends at a boring medical meeting by spotting a girl with a cute denim jacket and 8 visible tubes of lip gloss!

Bringing people together under one unified front?! Forget the coaching thing...you have the quotes of a presidential candidate. Today the little league field...tomorrow the White House.

I just wanna know- who takes all these pictures of you while you are out taking care of the team :) I'm thinking ET, cause she probably follows in her mama's footsteps in the photography dept. Hope she is doing better this week!

What a great mom you are! And Coach! I say if your kids are happy who cares if you're not the conventional coach?
