I walked out of the house today without a stitch of make-up on. I apologize to all the peeps I tortured. You did not deserve this horrendous-ness on a Monday morning. But I have to find someone who knows something about fashion to help me have those sexy smokey eyes -- for my Air Force Ball.
And as I was walking through the mall, I looked across the store and saw her...And I knew she was the one to help me achieve some form of hip coolness.
She began to work her magic. And I began to panic. Is this what I am suppose to look like? And this is what she came up with.... the "smokey" eye.
So my question for you peeps is...Do you think exudes sexiness and Indiana Jones will be unable to control himself at the Ball...or do I look like I have been punched in the eyes by the hoods at school?Cause I cannot tell the difference between sexy and beat-up. They kinda have the same look to me.

we definitely perceive our own appearance different than others do, because i tried to give myself the smokey eye and i thought i looked like a hooch.
YOU on the other hand, look amazing!!!!!!!!!!!! i LOVE it!
maybe i need that funky red haired girl to do mine and i won't feel so hoochie-ish?
Well, i think you look gorgeous, but personally, Id tone down the liner on the bottom eyelid. does that make sense? Or at least have her do one with less liner so you can see the difference...it certainly doesnt look like you were punched!
I like the smokey eyes. But, if you are like me, the question is whether or not you can recreate them.
I like it - it's not too much at all. And it doesn't scream "goth" or anything like that. Not that there's anything wrong with goth. Gosh, I'm so digging a hole.
Bottom line - it looks good!!
I think it looks good. At first I was with Bekah on the slightly less eye-liner, but then I put it into perspective... an evening out, you're all dressed up, high heels and all, your hair is looking exceptionally gorgeous, and you're with a handsome man in a coat and tie, or uniform or whatever these armed forces men wear to such a ball.
I'd go with it! But you're gonna need a little more lip color to go with.
and without makeup, you still make the gorgeous girl next door list. You're a natural beauty girlfriend!
okay, take this with a grain of salt bc this is coming from a gal who LOVES MAKEUP and regularly wears false lashes when she goes out on the weekends. (okay and for the record? it's tasteful not eek! i use individual false lashes.) i am obsessed w/makeup (as an art) and am constantly playing around with it.
so. in my opinion? i think it looks great. the only thing i would change about it would be to maybe fill out your brows a little more - especially the outer edges, it'll 'frame' your eyes more and make them 'pop' w/out having to add any darker colors (since you seem hesitant about such a dramatic shade.) also, adding a little white liner to the INSIDES of your lower lash line will definitely bring out the green in your eyes. and use a plumping mascara. and .. maybe a little contouring on the cheek? to sort of bring out your KILLER cheekbones (which i hate you for!) (not really! i kid!) (well. kinda.) and add in a.. maybe not a darker lip shade but something a little less pinky and maybe a bit more glossy.
i dunno if that made ANY sense. but i do the 'smokey eye' quite often, usually using a mix of mac eyeshadows.. i start w/black liner, then black shadow, then a deep emerald/blue shade, then end in a gold powder near the insides of my lids so it's sort of a layering effect. it sounds SO tranny when i try to explain it like that but whenever i wear it like that? i get stopped constantly with people asking me where i got my makeup done.
hope this helps!!! i think you're just gorgeous naturally. you could paint fake zits on your face and you'd STILL be a naturally beautiful person. (inside and out. lucky you!!)
and i totally love the makeup artists hair hehehe.
I think it looks good. I agree with Lo on the brows thing too.
But I have a feeling that it isn't gonna matter to much what your make-up looks like Cuz IJ is gonna think your drop dead gorgeous anyway!!!
I hate to be the dissenting opinion here, but I don't think it is your best look. My advice would be to try another make-up counter and see what they come up with. Don't get me wrong, I think that you are absolutely beautiful, and that if you do choose to go with this look, you do look pretty - I just think the smoky eye could be done better.
Ok I was thinging that I agreed with Bekah, but then Lo sent my mind a real'n. You're beautiful no matter how you apply your make-up and IJ will definatly not be able to keep his hands to himself!
did mike tyson have a go at you? just kidding. go with bekah's idea.. and a bit of Lo.. i am a bad makeup psn cause i never wear any...all that stuff sits and sits lonely in my drawer but i do LISTEn and they say smokey eye and neutral with some gloss lips. one or t'other but not big eyes and big lips...don't worry if IJ doesn't fall all over himself. he's so used to your omg-drop dead beautiful self. so spoiled you are IJ
I am personally a fan of the smokey eye!
Yes, maybe feather out the bottom lash a bit, not such a distinct line.
I like the smokey eye, but I wouldn't bring the eyeliner all the way to the corner of your eye on the bottom...just under the lash line. I think it will be a softer yet still sultry look :)
Amy
CG,
I am a HUGE fan of the smokey eye and wear it all the time myself. My advice, go to your nearest MAC counter and ask for black tied , humid, solar white, and 'all that glitters'. NO EYE LINER. Do the whole shebang with eye shadow-it's much softer and blended. The Black Tied goes on first in the place of eye liner and then humid and then highlight with the other two colors. I so wish I could come do your makeup. You are gonna look fabulous. Black dress with shawl, BTW. Have fun!
edie -- i went there. got night divine though. shimmer smokey....heavenly.
i will post some picks xxxooo
definitely smokey eye for the ball.
YQ in OKC
I love it, but I think I'd love it even more if the bottom lid were not lined quite so heavily.
Have a ball at the ball! : )
I agree with edie+steve; go with a dark shadow and use that as eye liner instead! Much softer, but still oh, so smoky and hot.
A. Maze. Ing!
BTW: got the Clinique mascara. Now can I have your lashes? Haha! It is really great mascara I just have stubby lashes (or hoody lids)
Beautiful!!! I love smokey eyes but can't seem to get it right either! Will you come over and we can play makeup????
