Indecisive Is My Middle Name

I woke up this morning and took ALL the kids to school. Baby Twerp had his first day of school. I cried. He loved it. And he had booger chandeliers when I picked him up. It is official, he is now a day care kid.

But after my errand running and seeing my new office (insert me doing a big old wink/grin/happy dance/squeal) I went off to do my early voting. After much research and agonizing. I FINALLY knew who I was gonna vote for. He won out 51% to 49% in my pro/con list making.

But alas, there was no early voting today. So, my fly by the seat of my pants idea did not work and I must now take ALL THREE TWERPS to vote with me tomorrow cause school is out and all.

And now I am not so sure. Cause I watched that gadgum infomerical followed by a speech from John McCain in Ohio today. And I am all 50/50 once again.

So here is what I need. And while I am usually very opposed to rules, I have rules on this post. Why? Uhm, cause I am SO indecisive I need structure.

Here is what I need from you:
1. Tell me who you are voting for
2. THE #1 reason you are voting for him
3. No talk of Pro Choice/Pre Life allowed
4. No bad mouthing the other candidate -- ONLY the #1 reason for your candidate

And if you don't wanna follow the rules then that is okay. I will still love you and listen, but I really need your last minute help here.

Well, you see, I missed the deadline to register to vote. My boyfriend, however, voted early this past Friday.

We discussed things and we both agreed who we would vote for and the reason why we would vote for this person.

All that being said, he voted for Obama, which, had I registered, I too would have voted for. Why, you might ask? Simple...because we need a change of power in office.

Hope "we" have been helpful.

McCain- unwaivering dedication to our country, an uncommon trait we will no doubt need in a leader within the next 4 years.

I'm voting for McCain. I'm sorry but I have to break rule #3. I vote prolife and that is why I am voting for McCain.

Marchelle said...

JOHN MCCAIN because he is an honest family man, a true American hero, has good Christian morals and ethics, and has our Country's best interests at heart.

Plus having several military men in my family, I have ALWAYS believed that the Commander in Chief should have SERVED in some branch of the Armed Forces if he is going to lead them.

Brandy said...

Country Girl,
I have to break the rule, but not because I am a rebel, but because it is my #1 reason for voting the way I did.
I voted for John McCain.
The #1 reason I voted for him is he opposes abortion.
It doesn't matter where a canidate stands on taxes, war, or education if there is no life. Without life, nothing else matters.

Honestly, the bottom line for me was "who would I want to come sit in my living room and look out for my children?" And that was Obama for me. Just my choice.

CindyDianne said...

McCain.

In today's world, I am more comfortable with him as our country's Commander in Chief.

SupposedSuburbanite said...

McCain-Palin, because I feel he is oh so very much stronger on national security. All this talk of the economy drives me nuts...my reasoning is this: I can get a new job or a second job, but I can't get a new husband, father, mother, brother, nephew, friend, etc., if we have another 9/11. To me, it is not fear mongering, it is just the truth. I have so much more to say, but I am trying to follow the rules for ya, CG! :)

SupposedSuburbanite said...

Ok, everybody else is doing it...so I am too!!! Breaking rule #3! John McCain and Sarah Palin are unapologetically pro-life and Obama has a legislative voting history of supporting abortion, even late term and partial birth abortions. And then there is the tax issue...If I ever gain any wealth, I will 'spread the wealth' myself thank you very much!!

And, I agree with everything Marchelle said about McCain.

John McCain and Sarah...they are my choice for President/VP. They would also be my choice to sit in my living room to care for my children.

NO brainer......McCain. I want someone with experience. I agree with marchelle and supposedsuburanite....I can spread my own wealth (if I had some lol.) I DON'T NEED the federal government doing it for me. Not interested in socialism.

I'm a lurker, but I love your election posts.

I'm voting Obama for many, many reasons.

A huge one, though, is that I really respect and stand behind his plans to encourage personal responsibility and community service. I very much hope that (when he's elected!) he can pass his plan to reward community service by giving tax breaks to college students. Investing in our own people is something that we really need to work harder at!

I'm gonna be a nervous wreck tomorrow!

McCain. Come on without life there is nothing. This country was founded on Christian values and life is precious. And second I believe if the other party is elected the war will be fought on U.S. soil. I will chose life and national security everytime.

Anonymous said...

Obama. He is a breath of fresh air, a voice of reason and fairness, and will help strengthen our reputation around the world. I challenge anyone to tell me that the last 8 years have been great. We don't need more of the same failed policies.

The Wife said...

McCain because he's a man of integrity. Anyone that wouldn't leave a fellow soldier behind and stay in a torture camp is a man of integrity and stands by his word.

Anonymous said...

Obama, I don't have a #1 reason why, several things are important to me this election, like bringing my dad home from Iraq. I admire McCains service greatly, but I don't think Obama will do anything crazy when it comes to the war. I feel as though his lack of personal experience with war/military will force him to take advice from those currently serving and on the ground in the Middle East. Also, I feel that it is time to try something new as far as the economy goes. Tax cuts for middle class seem more appropriate in our current situation. At least to me. Good luck deciding CG!

I agree wholeheartedly with Marchelle! :) Voted early myself and couldn't wait to darken in that little dot.

Dana and Daisy said...

Mc Cain for many reasons already stated, and one that is being overlooked... because we need balance at the Federal level and if Democrats have the White House, the Senate and the House of Representatives, we have zero balance.

McCain is our only hope for checks and balances in the legislation that will be enacted in the next four years.

Sarah said...

I already voted. I voted for McCain, I've never voted GOP for President since I was able to vote.

We own a small business & Obama would tax us right out of buisness a 20yr plus business. I feel safer with McCain in the security part of things.

I am concerned of Obama attending a church for 20 years that seems full of hate.

I was a real estate agent 10 years ago, when the "if they are breathing give them a loan" program began, so this mortgage mess isn't all the GOPs doing.

I'm sorry anon, but our country was not founded on Christian principles - this is a repeat post for me, so I apologize CG, but it frustrates me to no end when misinformation is so widespread. I respect Christianity wholeheartedly, but this nation was founded on the ideals of the separation of church and state ...

The two documents upon which our country was actually founded -- i.e., the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution of the United States -- contain not a word about Christianity, Christian principles, the Bible or Jesus Christ. Neither is there any mention of the Ten Commandments, heaven, prayer or being saved.

In 1797, the Treaty of Tripoli, negotiated by none other than George Washington, declared that "the government of the United States is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion." Congress unanimously approved the text of this treaty, and John Adams signed it.

Mandatory church affiliation, among other factors, led to the establishment of the term a "wall of separation between church and state," allowing, at each citizen's discretion, freedom of religion or freedom from religion.

The phrase "under God" was added to the Pledge of Allegiance in 1954, and our national motto became "In God We Trust" in 1956 in response to USSRs' so-called "godless Communists." It is historically incorrect to claim that America was founded upon Christianity.

Indeed, it was quite the opposite.

I'm voting for John McCain. He has more experience, and he served his country. I feel like Obama has not been completely honest about his ties to questionable people. I don't think the federal government should be "spreading the wealth" so to speak. I don't feel someone should be punished financially because he/she makes more money than I do. And since they're a bunch of rule breakers on here, I feel I, too, must break the rules! I am pro-life. I will always be pro-life. And I cannot, as a Christian, vote for someone who is not.

Anonymous said...

I am voting for McCain because I feel he will protect my rights as a Christian better than Obama will.

J said...

McCain-Palin. I have to vote for the candidate whose morals and ethics most closely match my own. The economy will turn around no matter which party is in power - these things are cyclic - for those that can remember, the economy was already on a downward swing while Clinton was still in office, it happens and will continue to over the course of history...so that is not a factor for me. But I cannot vote for someone that is so cavalier about an issue that is near and dear to my heart. I have three kids and know beyond a shadow of doubt that they were alive in my womb, I felt them move, kick, hiccup - all signs of life. Sorry CG, I know this breaks the rules.

Easy reason;
Experience, Would I want my husband who has 20 years experience as a CEO running my company or a new college grad? Obama is like a new college grad, he's in office less than a year.

CreativeMish said...

Ok, I don't believe in Abortion.. but I am Pro Choice. Each person has the right to do what they want. And if they're at peace with doing this, then so be it.
I'm voting McCain. Obama is a socialist. I don't think he really has the same values for our country the way McCain does. Obama has that soft spoken voice that makes people believe him. Honestly I don't really like either of them. McCain is the best choice on the issues important to me.

edie said...

You are brave CG to host this political 'debate'. I applaud you and I beg and plead with you to consider only the facts when you vote....not all the political spin or all the fancy political-speak. And I think the facts are this.
McCain is pro-life, Obama is the most pro-abortion senator ever. McCain will cut taxes, Obama will raise them in many ways. McCain will 'hunt down' terrorists , Obama will negotiate with terrorists. McCain will keep America a capitalist democracy and Obama will push us ever closer to socialism. So, McCain is the only choice I could make in good conscience.
And I wholeheartedly support you resigning from your new job over the panty hose fiasco. Could you wear tights? Like black ones? Or just like nude panty hose? I'm real scared for you.

OBAMA

I want someone who can set an example of how to live and how to raise children and how to be a family AND I want someone who will change the world's view of us (the USA) and someone who can inspire change. I am a small business woner and have done my homework...I will fare much better under Obama...BUT, I am NOT voting for my pocketbook, I am voting for the greater good of America....and when we vote him into office tomorrow, I will be so proud of the USA for the growth we have all made. :) Two time Bush voter who wants the war we shouldn't be in to ber over and to win the one we should be in!

Go vote Obama, you know you wanna!

Anonymous said...

SARAH - I am a small biz owner, too and you really should do your homework about Obama's tax plan...you don't have to like him, but t sure would be a shame for you to be misinformed about his tax plans...I will be much better off under him...

McCain believes in absolutes, There is still hope for the Republic, but governing people who do not share his assumptions will be his biggest challenge. Our government has been constructing rights with great abandon —abortion rights, gay rights, animal rights — rights that can be found nowhere in the Constitution, the Bible, human reason, or nature itself. My vote will go for McCain. The man who believes in absolute truth.

Kim said...

McCain - What is fair is not the same as what is equal. Just because someone makes more money that another person, it doesn't make it right to take more from them. I firmly believe in "You don't work, you don't eat!"

Under Obama I would benefit from him over taxing people who make more than $250K (BTW - that figure has gotten as low at $120 in recent days), but it is not right that they should have to give me their money because I chose to be a teacher.

I chose my profession knowing full well I wouldn't ever earn as much as a stock broker or doctor. I CHOSE! Now I must live with my choice or make a different one.

Socialism and communism haven't worked for any other country. Why do we think it will work for us? Isn't that the definition of crazy?

Anonymous said...

Everyone: DO your homework about Obama's tax plan..it is not socialism. He simply would let the Bush tax cuts expire. It would mean most of us would pay less with anyone making over $250,000 paying an average of 3% more.

It is okay to not support him, but don't be ignorant of what it is he is really wanting to do - if he's elected tomorrow (which is likely) he'll be our leader and we should have an opinion of him based on facts, not BS!

Perfectly Unperfect said...

People keep saying the Obama is pro-abortion. Hmmm that is interesting, I thought that he was pro-choice.

Just because Obama believes in a womans right to choose what to do with her body, does not mean that he is pro-abortion.

Anonymous said...

McCain - Why - because I'm against socialism, and I have done my homework.

brainella said...

I think the Anonymous poster needs to think about what happens when the tax cuts expire. They then rise which means people will pay more. It would also mean that the 40% of the people in this country that PAY NO INCOME TAXES WHATSOEVER would receive a check. A hand out. That's not a tax cut, that's a welfare check.

I'm voting McCain because of national security, integrity, taxes, and off-shore drilling.

For so many reasons, but the #1? He's INSPIRING. Seriously. Go to youtube RIGHT NOW and watch an Obama speech, then watch a McCain speech, and tell me how you feel afterward.

I'm getting up in 7 hours and will head to the polls to vote Obama-Biden because I have been inspired.

Totally McCain-Palin. His experience, she brings a femaile perspective that I think will bring a lot of balance. They will kinda b like a "marriage" and God made woman to complete man (male and female created he them) and I don't mean that woman is inferior, I mean the rwo together makes a whole. His experience and I am like the others who question Obama's "roots and affiliations". I think McCain will not be a rerun of Bush. I think he will be his own man and in his experience will have the contacts for gathering a good team of advisors, obviously including women. If Obama wanted even a sliver of a chance, he would have thought of a woman running mate and NOT Hil the Pill either. That was an anchor thrown overboard.
PS. CG. no jokes about being bipolar...ADD..ok

Whoa! This is helping me make up my mind as well. I have been so wavering between the two - not wholly satisfied with either.
I was very close to switching to Obama - I am very unhappy with Sarah Palin and McCain's choice in her.
But - in the end, demonstrated integrity, demonstrated service, and demonstrated loyalty - well, I think you can see where I am headed.

I won't know til I actually vote tomorrow tho.

In the coming four years, it will be interesting to observe, if Obama wins, most likely when things don't go well - the shoe will be on the other foot and he will suffer the ire of the American people - just as George Bush has - someone always has to take the heat!

CG...I am voting John McCain because I haven't seen him have to explain why he saying one thing this week that contrasts with what he said on the exact same thing last week. The man is solid. You can take what he says to the bank. He may not get to complete all the things that he wants to do (or what I want him to do)but I believe he will try mightily!! What you see is what you get....that is why I am voting for John McCain among other things that I am not allowed to talk about in my comment.

McCain. Because I love my husband and government health care systems(medicaid and medicare)are by far the most horrible "insurance" plans that he deals with as a doctor. If Obama's health care plan comes to pass, do not kid yourself, we will be looking at a fully government run system in the near future because everyone will choose the cheaper, better insurance he is offering and other insurance companies who do not participate will go out of business, effectively ending any competition in the market.

Which means...my husband will have more paperwork, more red tape, more head aches and less bargining power than he does now. Which means...I will have a more stressed out, less happy husband who spends even more time working than he does now. (Which I do not want.)

Oh yes...and I'm pro-choice before conception and pro-life after. (Sorry CG, couldn't help myself.)

Be kind to your doctor...vote McCain.

I am voting McCain because he will, plainly and simply, be the best choice for our national security. As a military spouse, a candidate who truly understands what is means to be commander in chief is essential.

I also appreciate the fact that he is looking for change in a way that does not interfere with our democratic process (ie- socialism).

I'm voting Obama. He's smart, he's young (not a part of the "me" generation), he has new ideas, he'll repare foreign relations, and he's brave enough to do what needs to be done. Tax increases, i.e. letting the Bush tax cut expire for only the top 2%, is a tough position to take, but can we really continue to fund two wars, bailout greedy wallstreet execs, and subsidize big oil, etc., without bankrupting the government? We can't continue this direction without putting ourselves at risk for an overthrow by China when they decide to cash in their treasury notes.

McCain believes in reverse socialism: take from the poor and give to the rich. Yuk. Oh, and check out Palin's socialism: didn't she tax big oil in Alaska and then send checks to every Alaskan? That's supposedly job-killin' stuff, people. Hmmn...can anyone say hypocrite?

McCain - Because I liked it when he called Pat Robertson & Jerry Falwell agents of intolerance. He was pro-life and they still would not accept him because he would not lick their boots. Okay I don't know that for certain but I did like that he stood up to them. The Christian right has not won too many to Christ with militant values maybe we should try radical love. Christ did not like adultery but he showed compassion to those that committed it. Maybe if our Christian leaders were more Christ like we wouldn't have alienated a generation..whew maybe IJ is right I am bitter

McCains kindness, compassion to millions of people that have been here illegally helping grow our economy and standing on his conviction that you cannot just throw them out and have to treat them with dignity. Ironically, the mindsight of most of the republican party has pushed the latino vote to the democrats.

McCain because most presidents or leaders were defering their service when he was in a hole in Vietnam being tortured.

McCain because he wanted to get special interest out of politics with campaign reform. Something that is probably hurting him right now.

McCain because he is pro-life.

Now I did not like that he tapped a neophyte for VP. That was a hail mary. Yeah I know there have been prophecies about how we are voting for a VP this year. Bullcrap. I never saw those e-mails before she was selected. Prophecy has become nothing more than manipulation in many instances. We Christians need to grow a brain (and a heart).

McCain...he is the best man for the job. The fact that Obamas figures for taxes has dropped to $120K in the last few days has an effect on a lot more people. Myself included. I will have to quit one of my jobs just to stay below that number. Doesn't make sense...work hard and keep the money myself or quit because if not it will be given away to someone else whom I didn't choose to give it to. Don't get me wrong, I am a die hard volunteer and hand out money left and right to people/organizations that I believe in, but it is my choice on whom I give it to. Not the governments.

Though christian, I have a hard time digesting a govt system guided exclusively on christian values while discriminating against others.
