Jeter came home to us when Baby Twerp was 3 weeks old. And oh how he fit in perfectly. I was putting the dog in the crib and the baby outside to pee. Don't go to judgin. I had a 7 year old, an 18 month old and a 3 week old...and a NEW PUPPY. I turned to crack. I kid. I kid. Just meth -- JOKING. Some legal narcotics did me just fine. But today was a rough and tough day. And I knew it was coming. But I did not expect the reaction.
For reasons I can yet to explain, I have done and gone a dog gone awful deed. I am talking I just feel poopy bout it. Go ahead -- let hte judgin begin.
We gave away Jeter today -- to a man with another Lab (Bear) and lots of love in his heart.
But as he drove off the tears started to well. And when I looked over at Indiana Jones, his eyes were wellin too....and Lordy Be I became a big ol snottin mess.

uh, dont go judging me either but miley is the 3rd dog we've had in our 4 year marriage. i had an 18 mo old and a newborn and i too turned to legal narcotics, but i still said to the dogs "ya'll gots to go!" two was too much for a sleep deprived mom with 2 babies.
but anywho, i'm sure its for the best. you both work, the kids are at school/daycare, poor jeter dog probably wasn't gettin the lovin he deserved.
Oh that's tough! Dogs are like our kids. Be strong - he'll be happy with his new friend!
That must have been such a tough decision, but I bet in the long run you will know it was the right one. It sounds like Jeter is in a great new home, and even has a four-legged playmate to have fun with!
Oh honey, he'll be so happy to have another friend to play with. A co-hert to blame for any trouble me may cause.

Ahhhh, I remember Jeter well, thinking he was a lap dog and all...however I just had to re-home a "free" dog I "rescued" from a "breeder" and had for 1 month. Long story however I did the breed rescue for her and she is being fostered by a woman who shows the breed. She was a new BFF named Candy, who is her age and she has 7 acres and and 8 other Step-siblings. She is doing well and is about to go on the rescue website. They do an in-depth application and a "home study" and a $200 adoption fee so I feel fairly safe. I miss her every day and still call her when I take my 2 to the field where we all used to play. I miss her every single day however I know I did what was best for both of us. Tell ET that if I was her age, she would so be a BFF of mine! Sorry this was so long howver its is therapeutic for me everytime I tell it. How did the kids do? Like Cesar says...dogs live in the NOW! They won't mope around and be mad while we r mopin feelin guilty...YQ in MWC
What? Why? I loved Jeter! I mean, seriouly, who wouldnt love chasing him around the neighborhood with Eldest Twerp crying, Middle Twerp running as fast as he can while I was holding Baby Twerp. I love that doggy!

Oh Honey! I can not imagine the torment you all went through with this decision. I'm glad you were able to find him a good home and a buddy.
Oh Honey! I so know. I had an Irish Setter that I had to send to a breed rescue. He was wonderful and loved me and neurotic as a summer day is long. I was a single mother, working and going to school. I just couldn't hang with the stress of him barking EVERY time I got out of sight.
It was for the best, but I still feel bad about it sometimes.
I cried for 3 days.
jeter will forgive you and be so happy in his new home... are the kiddos ok?
Dogs only know what we teach them. If they misbehave, it's our fault for not taking the time to show them what we need them to do. I hope he is happy in his new home.
