Winter is not the season for Country Girl. I am all over getitn out and about. I love some spontaneous neighborhood get togethers or a walks to the park or a swims in the pool or a grill outs....and this weather is killin the summer girl within.
I need sun dresses and carefree skirts and bare feet. I need some sunshine and play dates. I look so much better in tanks than turtlenecks. Can anyone feel my pain?
But this stuffy cold season is makin me stir crazy -- I gotta get away.
So tell me. If you could plan the perfect vaca IN THE US for 4 days/3 nights IN THE DEAD OF WINTER. Where would you go? Skiing? Mountains? Cabin? Beach? City? Country? Outer Space? Outlet Mall? Rodeo?
Would you take your kids? Leave them? (not like by themselves or anything) Family Vaca? Second Honeymoon? Wine and dresses? Apple juice and jeans?
Let me hear it -- nuttin too extravagant....but tell me your winter vaca dream...on a budget.

Since there is no budget mentioned here (I know, we girls...we like to dream), I would say go for the warmth since that's what you're missing. I love my kids but I'm almost always up for a short trip without them. Could you do a short cruise in that amount of time?
To aleveate out winter holdrums the hubs and I always pack up Senator (his horse) and George (my mule) and head to the rocky mountain range in northern New Mexico. We rough it a little and see some amazing scenery.
anyplace warm would be great! With or without kids, i don't care!
San Diego is only a 6 hour drive from here. Not too far, plenty of beaches. Cheap and tons of activities. And ooooh yea...SEA WORLD!!!
Since its winter I would want to be someplace warm. It's very affordable to do Florida (cliche I know) in the winter.
A beach house in the keys for the family and take along a teenager for a sitter when you want away from the kids. See Hemingway's house, stand on the southernmost tip of the US, eat Key Lime Pie and lots of shrimp and beer.
That's what I would do.
South! Anywhere south just drive until it gets warm enough!
I'm hoping dh and I can drive to Vegas in February for a getaway. We need it.
I would go to the beach for a few days, probably Myrtle cause that's the closest to me. I would leave the kids at home. And probably my husband, too. But then I would feel guilty the WHOLE time cause I left them and I wouldn't enjoy my trip. Im such a killjoy. Oh well.
My husband surprised me, by giving me on a cruise for spring break in March. I have to find someone to watch or three children
The beach, definitely. Kid included, but bring along his teenage uncle & aunt to babysit for a few hours of kid-free time. Sun, sand, saltwater, moonlit walks, ahhh...
i hear memphis is nice this time of year...january 24 & 25, more specifically....just sayin!
just talked to IJ -- I am playin me a vaca -- I need BEACH! I need water... I need a cabana boy named jose....oh, was that outloud?
The BEST kept secret beach in the US is Seaside FL!! It is your perfect little town with picket fences and cobblestone streets with a cute little market right in the middle of town! Me and my BFF drove there from Texas a couple of years ago. A great place for families or couples! Not comercialized (sp?) at all, no fast food chains or big malls, just a little corndog stand on the corner. You can rent these little houses that all have cute names and are painted different colors..wow, it's making me want to go back!

Brandy or Queen -- been ont he site...went to book a cottage -- do you have the name of one you recommend??/
No, we actually had a friend that lived there at the time! he does not live there anymore! *tear*
We just got back from a 4 day cruise out of Galveston Tx. It went to Cozumel Mexico and back. It was perfect. I do this every year weather it be a girls trip or families. A core group of us live for it! There is a boat that sails out of New Orleans that goes to Cozumel as well. It is the Carnival Fantasy. They just redid it and you and the whole family would have a blast! It is reasonable too... Like a little over $400 person...
oh goodness now i have to go to seaside florida. it's a MUST.
any beach. any, any beach, my husband and i, a hammock, sigh. if budget were no problem and i was a princess of aruba or somethin i'd totally go to the carribean. i melt every time i see pictures of clear water. sigh. white sand. sigh. :)
I am so late to the party...but my fav is Charleston, SC. Not sure how warm this time of year though but it is my favorite place to visit. It's like a southern version of Boston.
Never been to Seaside FL though!
In the US? No budget constraints? HAWAII!
