Swim Lesson Numero Tres: Return of the Aqua Allergy

I loaded the Twerps up for Swim Lesson Numero Tres... And the Sent From Heaven Above Swim Instructor remembered the tragic experience both and and Baby Twerp had last week as BT had attached himself to his back and would not let go, so he started off slow.

He attached a floatation device to BT and began his pep talk. All was going fine until he mentioned the word "water" and that was all Baby Twerp could endure -- he could not cope with the pain and memories that word brought forth. So he sought out solace.
From his sister.....and OF COURSE
She came to his rescue. Cause Baby Twerp can do no wrong in her eyes....
So she kept him where his ankles barely got wet.
And he felt safe and secure from all alarms (name that tune)While Middle Twerp continued his lesson.... with this floatation device...and I was all like, we are on WEEK 3!!! Enough of these floatation devices, we need to SWIM. So I told his Sent From Heaven Above Swim Instructor, "Take those floatation devices away, he is ready." And MT gave me this look...And soon they were working on swimming without the floaties...And it was a little touch and go for awhile....With some chocking and gagging and gasps of air...
And a few moments of me thinking, "Should he be under water that long?"But then, miraculously....He began to swim..... Like nobody's business...like a natural. And BT sat safely on the sidelines cheering his on to victory.
Soon, the Sent From Heaven Above Swim Instructor came to meet Baby Twerp where he felt safe and secure from all alarms ...

And he was a-okay with his one on one lesson...in the ankle deep water.
I was all like enough of this ankle deep water - just throw him in the deep end, he will learn, right?

That started the weeping and gnashing of teeth all over again.Maybe next week.

Yippee for MT. He's excelling at this. Good for him. Believe it or not I caught myself holding my breath on this end. LOL.

BT will eventually get the hang of it. Hopefully anyway. It's just going to take him a bit longer.

Your blog sure brings back memories...my now 24-year-old used to meow at the instructor, and we all know cats don't go in the water. My now 19-year-old son would only sit in the water with a dinosaur in hand. Both are water-lovers now. On the other hand, the ice-skating lessons never paid off. Ever see a "cat" crawl on the ice to her mama? Kids..gotta love 'em.
