So this week, as I was rushing to get Eldest Twerp to her Field Day in time and trying to make Middle Twerp's kindergarten enrollment and looking for a white tee-shirt for Baby Twerp's art day...I was rushing. Rushing. Rushing. Rushing. And when I rush, the whole world rushes with me. So I was dragging my Twerps to my next appointment when Middle Twerp stopped dead in his tracks and screamed....WAIT! LOOK! LIFE! And up above us was a momma bird feeding her freshly hatched baby birds. MT was right. We stopped and looked and admired and I was late. But I sat down criss cross applesauce on the ground and watched. I watched my kids soaking in life. I watched my kids taking the time to appreciate. I watched my spawn slowing me down and experiencing life. I was late that day. But it was all worth it.
Middle Twerp's words were much wiser than he knew. And deeper in meaning than just the birds. They rang with me the rest of this week. They made me stop and think in 20 years whatam I going to be remembering? The tee-shirt? The enrollment papers? Or the picnics? The walks? The car pool talks? The daily events?

Ooooo...that is such a powerful statement. I am so glad you and your three littles were able to share that together! Very very cool!!
I love that the kiddos are teaching us something. At some point they do surpass us...it's true. Glad you were able to stop and smell the roses with them. Great pics!!
brilliant!
Very cool, CG. My middle one has had a few poignant words of his own. Once, when he saw us rushing to get something done (and stressing out in the process), he said, "Hey, just try and try real hard, and if you can't do it, don't worry about it." Good lookin' family, by the way.
Thanks for sharing it CG - this was a wonderful post! BTW - I think your boys are absolutely the cutest kids on the planet - right behind my boys (sheepish shoulder shrug).
Sweet post. Kids will make you stop and look at the most simple things. At least riding horses, I am forced out into nature all of the time. I love walking around with my camera on my sister's farm and looking for all of the interesting things in "life" that I can check out and photograph!
Wise words to live by!
Awesome!!! What an awesome thing for MT to have seen that. And thanks for that reminder to us all...Slowin it down!!!
So sweet!
Came over from Curry Chaos....yeehaw that is the message! Thanks for sharing that poignant tale and reminding me that inspiration is indeed everywhere. Enjoy the day! I look forward to reading more! Erin
