I Am Typing With My Mouth Full

There are few better pleasures in the world than the hours after a grocery store trip. Once everything has been placed in its spot and the bags folded and put away. Once the fruit has been washed and cut and the cereal poured into their containers. Then, and only then, a little piece of heaven settles upon me.

Even as a kid there was nothing quite like coming home from school to find that mom had spent her day at the local country grocery pondering my taste buds and supplying me with my fix of Nutter Butters and Zebra Cakes. Oh nothing comes close to that kinda sweetness.

So I have been recreating these memories with my Twerps -- but on a budget. In an attempt to spend the LOWEST possible amount ever on groceries I braved ALDI'S last week Now I am sure it is a fine establishment and saved hundreds, maybe thousands, maybe millions of people cents, maybe dollars, maybe tens and hundreds of dollars - but not this family. Never again. There was no fresh feta cheese and new potatoes, and chicken salad with red grapes and apples.

So this week I made up for it. I fasted and starved last week, but this week there was no more manna from heaven...but rivers flowing with milk and honey. Now that river cost me TWICE the amount than last week...but oh the milk and honey.

And once I got everything carried in and put away, I stood with the refrigerator doors wide open and eyes lusting after what I would eat first.
I pulled some things out and started to put together a modified version of a certain sandwich...Oh you guessed it..P-Dub's...And I moaned and groaned the entire way through it. Then opened the pantry to see what beast to tackle next....They so remind me of VBS and watered down Kool Aid. But I oh how I do love myself some VBS and watered down Kool Aid.

Oh hello lover boy...come to momma.Burp. I cannot wait until supper.

I LOVED coming home from school on the days I knew mom had gone shopping! Those really were the best days. *sigh* It ALMOST doesn't seem the same when we do it now because it's on OUR dime and mom isn't supplying the food! Ha ha!! Your bagel sandwich looks delish!!

I loved nutter butters as a kid, too!

I still go to my parents and look for something good to eat. Lately, they've been on a diet so there is nothin' good! ;)

There is nuttin quite like gettin home from the grocer and looking at all your riches...then the beans walk in and my pantry/frige looks like a 3 bean tornado hit...oh such is life

I was gonna try the P-Dub sammich tomorrow, it looks sooo good but i would need extra sprouts and avacado-goodness I love me some sprouts and avacado DYK you can make this sammich ina pita pocket and it is oh so yum yum too....instead of cream cheese(cuz it's hard to spread into a pita) use mayo mixed/whipped with some chopped cilantro oh so fresh for the summer

My mother was a SAHM mom my entire life. One of my favorite memories is climbing off the school bus to smelling her fresh baked chocolate chip cookies. She had something homemade every single day. It was heaven.

I feel so much better now knowing that I am not the only person who has taken a photo of her fridge. I did it last week after the marathon grocery trip and got so much good stuff, I was inspired to CLEAN the fridge before I put stuff in. I knew no one would believe it, so I took pics.

The best part is I have a whole drawer chock full of CHEESE!
