My Journey With Journey

If you remember where we left off, I had been dreaming of concert tix to Journey, my fav band of all times [go ahead and snicker], for months. And my absolute fav cousin the whole world got us two tix. HOWEVER, once we were at the gate in our cute summer sun dresses and dreamy lip gloss...we realized the tix were for THE NIGHT BEFORE.

We turned around discouraged and heart broken, but then I thought..surely two grown women weeping with cute lip gloss can get in...so I asked...and begged and pleaded and made my cousin stand in front of me with her gorgeous hair...and then...the gates open forth and they said Enter into the kingdom....And I peed my pants, but just a little, and then reapplied lip gloss. Once in, it was heavenly...Cheap Trick and Heart opened and then this Filipino guy sounds JUST LIKE Steve Perry...but his moves were...well...I giggled.
Now we had snuck our cameras in and I was snappin pics like a wild woman. I took my point and shoot camera and I even videoed us singing to Anyway You Want It...it was gooo-oood. And ya'll were gonna be able to hear some karaoke of Journey...Country Girl style...
But then...then...after Faithfully, and Wheels in the Sky and Open Arms and When the Lights Go Down in the City...
And lot and lots of pics and giggles...
I HAD TO GO TO THE POTTY....BAD...
So as we wound our way around the sea of people to the potties...I stuffed my camera in my backpack, ran in to the stall, hung my backpack on the door, and began to line to seat with toilet paper -- cause my thighs were not going to be able to endure squatting for the magnitude of this pee....it was serious. As I managed to do the pee dance and lift my skirt I made it just in time...and my bag plummeted to the floor and I gagged as it feel into a mixture of beer and other liquids I chose not to identify on the bathroom floor. I leaned over and grabbed it and then heard a girl outside my stall say, ''Wow, cool - a camera.''
Oh no, I can never shut off in mid-stream. WAIT. STOP. THAT IS MY CAMERA AND I HAVE BLOG READERS I mean a READER THAT IS EXCEPTING A PHOTO DOCUMENTARY...WAIT...WAIT..
But by the time I was able to shut off the stream and slosh out of there, she was long gone. Long, LONG gone.

And I hope she is in misery as she listens to me sing with an awful southern hick drawl....
Just a small town girl living in a lonely world
She took the midnight train going anywhere
But it did not even put a damper on the evening...cause as we left we saw a girl getting arrested for having a camera and infringing on copyright laws...secretly, I PRAYED it was her. Amen.

PS Breann, or Brittnay or Bailey...My cousin SO blew you a kiss on my camera..but it totally got stolen. Seriously.

Oh how I wish I could have been at the Journey concert too. I've been in love with Steve Perry since I was 17 ( don't ask - it's a long, long time ago!) If this gives you any idea - I have all of their LP's - you know the big black disks with the grooves on them? Any way, love your story and blog. Too bad about the camera though. What a small price to pay for an evening with Journey (even if it's not with Steve:(

What a rotten person! I'm going to bet that neither you nor I would ever just run of with a camera that was just laying around. If I was brave enough to pick it up I would return it to lost and found. Wouldn't you!? Ay yay yay...some people.

I have all of their LP's too, Cindy (and yes, I've dared to date myself, as well). I also have a bunch of CD's, which I proudly play at near full-volume in my car whenever the mood strikes.

I just can't get past a replacement for Steve...even though this guy sounds like he's a musical clone of the guy. It's somehow just not the same.

I'm so sorry you lost your camera in the process, though. That truly bites the big one. I know it's probably wrong, but I'm praying right along with ya that the chick who got pulled over for the "illegal" equipment was her, too. It would serve her right, to take such precious memories away from you.

Then again, I'm a city chick... I probably would have flown out of the stall, mid-stream, and cold-cocked her! :)

Oh Journey...love, love, love them, too! I can't believe someone took your camera right out from under you! I would have screamed from my stall and freaked the jeebers out of them. Well, easier said than done, I suppose. I'm just glad it wasn't your Nikon! ;)
