A Tall Tale

Today was yet another day of Pre K and I was kinda scared. Were we forever gonna become dehydrated every morning through the shedding of an inordinate amount of tears? Or would this subside and become just another one of the many topic of discussion with Middle Twerp and the child psychologist? These are the questions that keep me awake at night.
But the heavens parted and the angels fluttered down and landed upon our home as we found a baby bird's egg this morning before Pre K.
And to a 4-year-old this is the equivalent to winning the lottery with Brad Pitt awarding it to me. Oh my, was that out loud?
And his teacher made a big ta-do about it and put it in the science center so all the kids could see it.
This just added some fuel to Mr.-Love-the-Spot-Light {just like his father}. And he begin to tell how it was a woodpecker egg and he had to fight off the eagles and triceratops to get it to Pre K.

I think lying is an acceptable alternative to crying and wailing and banana peeling. So, I kissed him and left him there to finish his Paul Bunyan stories.

That's awesome! Hopefully tomorrow won't result in tears because a bird's nest wasn't easily found. :-)

Of course it was a woodpecker egg and he had to fight off the eagles and triceratops. Everyone knows that only eagles and triceratops surround woodpecker eggs. See how much he has learned already?

Did he fight the triceratops by putting the tampons on his horn? :) I call mornings like this Blessings from Heaven. For mom especially.

I have thought of you the last couple of days and let me just tell you I have walked a mile in your shoes. Truly. My middle guy would go in screaming and crying and kicking and gnashing. (I am not stretching this AT ALL.) I came to hate pre-school too! It was so bad I left every day crying. Some days all I could do was stand in the Director's office and cry, begging for answers to all this. I learned only a couple of things however; 1) Pray like you have never prayed before. Give your twerp to God daily. He really is God's afterall. 2) NEVER, NE-VER take him back home. You will lose him for life. He will know he has won every battle that he hasn't even fought with you yet. It's hard. Yes. Does he have to go? No. Do you want him to succeed in society and be socially acceptable? Yes. It's not punishment CG, it's love. So keep on keepin' on. He will be a stronger and sweeter twerp because of it. And his future wife will thank you for it. My middle guy started Kindergarten today - he was amazing. Absolutely amazing!! God is good. All the time.

That is so sweet, and notice how the little girl who was holding tight onto the teacher even perked up a little bit! Awesome!
