Football is Only a Game. Spiritual Things Are Eternal. Nevertheless, Beat Texas.

Saturday was the much anticipated holy day of OU v UT. I refuse to talk about the bad calls, the incompetent defense, or those dreaded black sticker thingies under their eyes -- TACKY! -- and I most certainly refuse to talk about the big ol defeat of #1 ranked OU. Sniffle. Sniffle.
Instead I will talk about my other beloved passion.
Food.
College football always equals good food at our house. And the Oklahoma/Texas game means HOT WINGS. And these wings will make your significant other look over at you and say, "Honey, these wings are better than Hooters." Now he does not mean YOUR hooters. Please know that he is talking about Hooter's Hot Wings and not referring to any body part of you! He still will love those better than these wings....I promise. The culprits: butter, Crystal Louisiana Hot Sauce, ground pepper, garlic powder, flour, paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, chicken wings, vegetable oil.
First rinse and pat dry the completly thawed chicken wings. I bought frozen ones, but I like to get the ones in the chicken section right next the the thighs....they are better. Trust me. I know my chicken.
Anyhoo...Combine 1/2 cup all-purpose flour, 1 teas. of cayenne pepper, 1 teas of paprika, and 1/4 teas salt. Then put each wing in the mixture and coat thoroughly.
I should have had a bigger bowl. This is the story of my life.

But place the coated wings in the refrigerator for an hour....or be like me and forget about them for 2 or 3 hours. This helps the breading stick to the wings when fried.

While they are in the fridge, make the sauce....combine 1/4 cup butter, 1/4 cup+ Crystal Louisiana Hot Sauce, dash of pepper, and a dash of garlic powder in a small saucepan and heat over low.

I took no pics of this cause we were still winning at this point and time and I was interested.
Next heat your vegetable oil in a deep fryer (which I could not find mine so I used a pan, I am oh so risque like that and all) at 375 degrees. You want just enough oil to cover the wings. Put the wings (about 10) in the hot oil and fry 10-15 minutes. Remove them and drain them on a paper towel. Don't let them sit too long cause you wanna serve them hot - just like the woman you are.

Quickly put the wings in a large bowl, pour the sauce over the wings and coat thoroughly.

Then eat your depression away. Boomer Sooner. Amen.

If I gave my man a choice between my hooters and food, He'd probably choose the food. Really.

You know I could lose my citizenship for saying this, but I am glad OU lost. Everyone could use a little humility, and the men in my neighborhood are walking with their peacock chests out a little less today.

you are so kind to share this recipe with us. One more way to keep your hubby at home instead of at Hooter's is a gift to all women.

If I sound cynical it is because I have not had any coffee yet today.

I am feeling your pain! My husband went to Auburn, my son currently attends Auburn, my daughter will attend next year (fall 2009), and Auburn STINKS right now!

On another note, I noticed the AF jacket on the chair. My husband retired from the AF 7 years ago. (And still works for them doing the same thing! So we still move like crazy and he still deploys!) I know it has nothing to do with anything, I just like the connections!

Have a great day!
