Happy Easter - AKA Jesus Rose From the Grave in 13 Minutes??

Our lives have been nine kinds of crazy this week. And the relief and respite of Easter was welcome. This was the first Easter of my life that I have not been able to attend church. But when we woke up Nana and Grandpa had an Easter package waiting for us on the front step. And you can tell by my face in this pic that Middle Twerp said something that was nine kinds of crazy. He said he loved Easter cause of all the presents. UH -- HOLD UP!Then I started in. Do you all even KNOW what Easter is all about? What we are celebrating? Remembering? Honoring? It is NOT about the candy! The Eggs! The Bunny! The Chicks! Someone, right now...tell me what Easter is about. NOW!!!!Middle Twerp bravely raised his hand and said, " Jesus died on the cross for us and 13 minutes later he rose from the grave." OK -- not quite, but as long as we remember. And they tore into the box...And have been eating ever since. Then we had the inevitable neighborhood egg hunt. And this hunt wudn't like no hunt I had ever had.
Cause this egg hunt had TOYS
and money in the eggs.
And I was all like GO TWERPS GO!! Knock those little babies out of they way.
FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT! Go to the mattresses!
Uhm, exsqueeze me Eldest Twerp...Are you SOCIALIZING? This is serious business...there is NO TIME for socializing.Get your head in the game....Lordy Be!Every egg contains an opportunity.
But when it was all said and done we walked away with $8.50, three match box cars, six bouncy balls, and a gaggle of candy.
I looked down at them and said, WOW -- in thirteen minutes we seriously cleaned house.
In which Middle Twerp asked, "Was it thirteen minutes cause of Jesus in the tomb and all?"
Oh Lord have mercy on us...I gotta get these Twerps back in church. Amen.

Sounds like a fabulous day. What a great neighbhorhood that they organized that hunt for the kiddos! I laughed at your reference to the Godfather (go to the mattresses.)
Glad the Country Girl crew had a hoppy Easter!

Iy's so hard not to tell them, Hey Baby Twerp, there's two more behind you!

I'm so glad your kids are making friends in the new hood.

we didn't go to church either. Heathens that we are.

I was wondering if I was the only one who noticed the Godfather reference. Anyway, glad to see the kids had a great Easter. I logged on this a.m. to see the Resurrection cookies -- I think that's what you posted last year. I had forgotten about those and then remembered last night that I should have made those for my grandbabies. Oh, they're too young anyway. Next year, next year -- have to save something. Love you.
